Koridang Bye-Election: GPRN/NSCN (Neokpao-Alezo) bars members from campaigning

Mokokchung | March 31 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN (Neokpao-Alezo) has “unequivocally” instructed all members and workers to abstain from participating in or conducting any form of political campaigning in the name or on behalf of the group in connection with the upcoming bye-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency.

The directive, issued by Kilonser Huvito Yepthomi of the Ministry of Kilo Affairs and communicated through the Ministry of Information & Publicity (MIP) on March 30, was addressed to all national workers of the organisation under the leadership of President Gen (Retd) MB Neokpao Konyak and Ato Kilonser Alezo Venuh.

Reiterating the organisation’s position, the directive stated that the GPRN/NSCN (Neokpao-Alezo) maintained non-involvement in the electoral processes of the State.

However, it clarified that individual members are free to exercise their democratic right to vote in their personal capacity.

The organisation cautioned that any violation of the directive, particularly engaging in political campaigning in the name of the group, would invite strict disciplinary action.

It further warned against acts of harassment, coercion or intimidation of candidates, stating that such incidents would be dealt with seriously under its disciplinary framework.

The GPRN/NSCN (Neokpao-Alezo) also appealed to village authorities to remain vigilant and report any violations, asserting that it would address such matters with due seriousness and responsibility
The bye-election to the 28 Koridang AC is scheduled to be held on April 9, with counting of votes on May 4.
