Koridang bypoll: LJP (RV) signals alliance backing, calls for ‘responsible leadership’

Dimapur,  March 31 (MExN): The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP-RV) on Tuesday signalling its alignment with the ruling alliance while stopping short of naming a specific candidate the upcoming bye-election in the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency,

In a carefully worded statement, LJP-RV National Secretary S Richard Humtsoe underscored candidates supported by the party part of the broader “ruling alliance, enter this electoral process with the responsibility to address the real needs of the people.”

The LJP-RV, led by Chirag Paswan, is aligned with the National Democratic Alliance at the Centre, headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party. This national alignment provides context to its positioning in Nagaland, where the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance comprising the Naga People’s Front  and the BJP, heads the so-called “opposition-less” government.

While no explicit endorsement was made, the reference to broader ruling alliance is indicative of the party’s intent to back the coalition nominee, reinforcing unity within the ruling bloc ahead of the polls.

The statement added that voters in Koridang deserve representation that prioritises inclusive development, transparent governance, youth empowerment, infrastructure growth and lasting peace.

It further noted that the election is not merely about individuals or parties, but about strengthening democratic values and ensuring governance remains accountable and responsive to the aspirations of the people.

Notably, the statement from LJP (RV) National Secretary  S Richard Humtsoe said that all candidates should be encouraged to present clear visions, uphold integrity, and engage constructively with citizens.

Ultimately, the choice rests with the people of Koridang, whose voice will shape the future of their constituency, it added.
