Kohima Press Club (KPC) former president Atou Liezietsu today made announcement to contest in the upcoming ULB elections 2024 from Ward 9- Midland, Kohima.
“I am contesting this forthcoming ULB election not for any self-interest or gain but wanted to serve the people so that together we can bring changes to the development of the Kohima city,” he said while talking to a section of media persons in Kohima.
Intending candidate Liezietsu, who was also former president of Midland Youth Organization (2007- 2009) and finance secretary of Midland Panchayat said, “I am a social worker and throughout my life, I have dedicated my service though it may be in a small way for the welfare of the society, so I have decided to take the challenges to serve my colony and the society and decided to contest the forthcoming ULB election.”
Stating that the colony leaders and general public have approached him initially to stand for the election, Liezietsu informed that he accepted to stand for the colony as well as Kohima city and to give his best for all round development.
If elected, then, I will selflessly render my service for the welfare of the colony and the Kohima town as well, he said.
My top most priority is to bring and do maximum developmental works for the society, he said.
“I believe that, any councillors of the wards are just servants of the community and their duty is to selflessly work for the development of our city,” he said and felt that all the elected members should come together under one mind and decision to make Kohima city into a better place to live and not be selfish for any personal gain.
Meanwhile, he made a fervent appeal to those who will be elected from all the 19 Wards in Kohima to join hands and give maximum development to Kohima city and also create a peaceful atmosphere to live in. Further, Liezietsu also requested the electorates of Ward 9-Midland to vote for him and “see the changes.”
Liezietsu served president of Kohima Press Club during 2006-07. He was former media officer to Chief Minister of Nagaland (2017), former journalist (2001-2006) and former press secretary NPF Central (2017-2024).
