Indefinite total bandh from Nov 20 if government fails to act
Dimapur, November 1 (MExN): The 2-day total bandh of NH 2 called by Kandi Public Union (KPU) passed off peacefully today but more agitation is in offing if there is no positive response from government by November 20.
The Union will intensify the second phase of agitation by imposing indefinite total bandh along National Highway-2 from November 20 if the state government continues to remain silent on the issue, informed a press release from KPU Publicity Cell.
The KPU had called the bandh in protest against the state government’s failure to respond to its 15- day ultimatum demanding the construction of BDO office building at Chunlikha RD block, which was inaugurated on February 29, 2012.
“The six years old deserted foundation stone for RD Block office of Chunlikha situated at National Highway-2 is a clear indication of negligence by the Government,” it added.
In this connection, the KPU urged upon the Government to expedite the matter at the earliest so that “the sincerity of the Government in delivering Good Governance is noticed by the rural people.”
It also regretted the inconveniences caused to all the commuters and travelers of NH-2 during the bandh.
Noting that it is the first time that the Kandi group areas are coming out in the street to demanding the government to address its grievances, the Union also appealed the general public to extend their “solidarity and support toward the genuine cause of the area.”
The Union also clarified again that “it has no motive of provoking law and order nor create inconveniences” but the only questioning the adamant attitude of the state government in delivering justice to its demand.
