DIMAPUR, JULY 23 (MExN): KROS College Kohima conducted student induction programme for the freshers’ (BA 1st semester 2023 batch) from July 17 to 21at KROS College.
Speaking on the inaugural day, Bonnie Lasuh, vice principal highlighted the general guidelines of NEP 2020 in respect of four year undergraduate programme (FYUGP) under Nagaland University, which has been approved by the 36th Academic Council.
Vidilhou Suohu, administrator, KROS College extended warm welcome to the freshers and asserted that they have made the right choice by joining the college and substantiated that the college not only aims at academic excellence but focuses on holistic development of the students.
He further encouraged the students to grab the opportunity of youthful college life to explore their own talents and skills to bring about inventions and personality development and thereby becoming an asset to the state.
The institutional orientation was presented by Keviyabeinuo, assistant professor & IQAC co-ordinator. She gave a brief note on the annual academic calendar of the college and the various committees & clubs prevailing in the college.
Further, she highlighted on the meritorious scholarships being provided by the college. Thereafter, HoDs of various department of the college presented their respective departmental orientation.
Furthermore, to make the freshers more acquainted with the campus environment, the college conducted various orientation programmes like library orientation, mentor-mentee orientation, KROS College Students Council (KCSC) orientation & campus orientation.
As a part of the SIP, a cyber crime awareness programme was also organized with Dy. SP, Kihika O/C Cyber Crime as the resource person. He emphasized that cyber crime is on the rise in the state and highlighted some of the major causes of the cyber crimes such as lack of awareness, gullible nature, greed, enmity etc.
He stated that some of the common cases seen in the state are identity theft, impersonation, gift card scams, defamation, loan scams, fake shopping pages, investments scams etc. He further suggested some measures and steps to be adopted to help stay protected against cyber crimes. He also encouraged the students to become an active cyber volunteer and be a bridge for the law enforcement agency (LEA).
The five day long SIP concluded with a sports event where a friendly basketball and volleyball matches were played between the freshers and the seniors.
