
KOHIMA, JULY 25 (MExN): KROS College today introduced music and sound engineering class in its curriculum in collaboration with Symphony School of Music and Life Pro.
Speaking on the occasion as the Special Invitee, Director of Higher Education, I. Alempokba said music has immense worth in all levels of education. Students learn many important and necessary values for life as music enhances their mind, their expressive ability, and a whole host of other qualities, he stated.
He further pointed out that music is definitely a part of life in the Naga society; however, it is also one of the most expensive hobbies. Over the years, he said, music has evolved into a fine art and congratulated the college for introducing the music and sound engineering class. Pointing to colleges like Patkai Christian College, which has music as part of its curriculum, he expressed hope that KROS College will also include music as a separate stream in the years to come.
The Director, who is a lover of music himself, further motivated the students who have enrolled themselves for the two courses to be disciplined, open minded, practice and have a strong determination as they pursue the newly inducted courses. In the meantime, he said, “we should not neglect our traditional music.” “If we develop ourselves, there are ways and means to make a profession out of music,” he added.
Also speaking on the occasion, Vikhriezonuo from Symphony School of Music impressed upon that music helps develop language and reasoning, mastery of memorization, increased coordination, helps students stay engaged in their learning process, builds imagination and intellectual curiosity, and also disciplines the students. Highlighting the different aspects of music, she said that the partnership with Symphony School of Music will benefit the college by way of getting a standard music education ranging from voice, guitar, drums, piano, violin, etc.
It may be mentioned that Symphony School of Music is affiliated to the American Board of Royal School of Music London. It also conducts examinations for The Board of Trinity School London for Classical, Rock School, Rock and Pop, Contemporary, etc.
Director of Life Pro, Thejakielie Zuyie congratulated the college for initiating the sound engineering class and said Life Pro is very honored to partner with the college.
