Kohima, August 18 (MExN): The Kohima Science College Students Union (KSCSU) has hoped the ongoing Kohima Science College issue in Jotsoma would be resolved “through the process of peaceful dialogue mechanism as in with the ongoing case now.”
A press release from Vibeizotuo Tetso, KSCSU General Secretary, stated that the KSCSU firmly believes in “constitutional values and the rule of law,” therefore urging parties concerned to “amicably resolve the issue in an inclusive manner and at the earliest possible time in the greater interest of the students community.”
This statement was issued following misunderstanding with respect to the Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, land encroachment issue.
The KSCSU acknowledged that for the past four decades, the Jotsoma Village Council (JVC) had “initiated the move against illegal occupation and allotment of college land to various parties. Parallelly, from the 90s onwards, the KSCSU have persisted with the ANCSU to take up this issue.”
Finally, the ANCSU officially tabled the Land Encroachment issue in its 2013 General Assembly, and endorsed time and again in subsequent Assembly sittings. Therefore, “the present movement has been gathering momentum and has now reached the public domain for which we are grateful,” stated the KSCSU.
“In order to fulfill the vision of the college as envisioned by the founding fathers and land donors we request the government to expedite the process of solving the present land issue at the earliest,” hoped the Union.
