KSGKK appeals for intervention in Zubza river erosion

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The Kulolau Shoixe Ghami Kughuko Kuqhakulu (KSGKK) today requested the Nagaland State government to intervene in the issue of massive erosion of Zubza river which is affecting Yeveto village.  

KSGKK expressed concern that once the river overflows and changes its direction towards Yeveto village, it will damage more villages in the vicinity.  

KSGKK comprises of more than ten villages under Dimapur district and Yeveto village is one of them.  

A press release from KSGKK President, Shihoto Zhimomi and General Secretary, Kashiho Zhimomi pointed out that Yeveto village has been struggling against the massive erosion of Zubza river.  

Meanwhile, the union informed that Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control, Jacob Zhimomi inspected the site and pressed the department concerned resulting in sanctioning of Rs. 2.5 lakh for the initial works. The ADC Niuland and other officials also visited the spot and took initiative to protect the village from the natural disaster, the release stated.  

The union further informed that the villagers are “working round the clock, risking their life from the strong flood to protect the village.”  

It looked forward to more organizations/individuals coming forward to help physically, morally, financially and most importantly through prayer for the safety of Yeveto village.
