KSSSY scheme in Kohima district: Report

Kohima, April 11 (MExN): Under the Un-organized Sector Workers Social Security Scheme, Khrishi Shramik Samajik Suraksha Yojana 2001 (KSSSY) is implemented successfully in Kohima district by the department of labour in collaboration with Ministry of Labour, Government of India and Life Insurance Corporation of India.

Altogether, 626 beneficiaries are enrolled in this scheme. It is a scheme for labourers engaged in different kinds of farming, according to an annual administrative report of the department of labour.

The scheme provides for benefits like survival benefits up to age 60 years, accident insurance, money back policy, superannuation pension benefits on completion of 60 years of age and death benefits before age 60, amount ranging from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50,000.

In this scheme, the workers contribute Rs. 365 per annum (Re-1 per day) and the Government of India contributes Rs. 730 per annum per workers. 

For pension eligibility minimum period of contribution will be 10 years. Pension payment ranges from Rs. 100 to Rs. 1900 per month and lump sum on death after commencement of pension from of Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 2, 50,000 after age 60.

The report said that so far the department has been able to dispose Rs. 20,000 each as death benefits to nominees of four beneficiaries who expired after joining the scheme.
