DIMAPUR, MARCH 30 (MExN): The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has asked the Nagaland Government to immediately provide concrete assurance for the functioning of Model College Wakching and construction of a new High School building at Wakching within 15 days.
In a letter to the Nagaland Chief Minister, the KSU informed that it had submitted a representation to the Minister for Higher Education and the Principal Director of School Education regarding the Model College Wakching and reconstruction of Government High School Wakching on April 9, 2022. It informed that the Model College Wakching still remains non functional even after 5 years of its inauguration on February 3, 2019. Additionally, the Government High School Wakching which was constructed in 1974 has been abandoned ever since without any renovation, the KSU stated.
It said that the “deliberate negligence by the government resulted in the depletion of the entire infrastructure which was also reported by the local media in the state recently.”
Despite repeated appeals, the KSU regretted that the government has been “deaf and blind” to the issue risking the future of the students. At this point, the union is under the apprehension that any form of development in the district is nothing more than petty appeasement policy towards the deprived community, the KSU noted.
It urged the government to respond to their demands positively within 15 days, “failing which the government shall be held solely responsible for any untoward incident that may arise.”
