Mon, Feb 16 (MExN): The Konyak Students Union (KSU) has expressed discontentment over what it maintained was a ‘biased’ selection and involvement of impertinent procedures at the TA recruitment rally organized by the 20 Assam Rifles in Mon recently.
A much peeved KSU, while questioning the validity of the recruitment modalities involved for recruitment to an AR company (TA), expressed surprise that when the results were announced the number of selected candidates were short of the prescribed vacancies to be filled instated for Mon district.
“We are not happy with the way the selection was done and we were totally taken aback when the results (were) announced that only 53 boys were selected out of the 80 vacancies meant for Mon district” said Khongjah Loung’s, General Secretary of the Konyak Students Union.
While expressing appreciation for the concern shown and the needful effort exerted towards the Konyak community for the uplift of the youth, the General Secretary maintained that selections were done unfairly. “There has been lots of biasness in the selection procedure. 80 Posts were meant for the locals but contrary to it many non-locals were selected” pointed out Loung’s adding that many energetic candidates including sportspersons were denied selection. He opined that they were dropped from selection on minor grounds and “might tend to do anything”. It was learnt that many graduates were also rejected on minor reasons, Khongjah Loung’s said. The KSU has sought thorough explanation from the AR on the matter where the 27 remaining unfilled posts ‘disappeared’.
Reports from Mon maintained that many of the contenders at the recruitment rally were expressing much discontentment and frustration that they were rejected even so much for petty reasons such as having scars, tattoos or wounds on the body. “This is not pragmatic and justifiable,” reports quoting a candidate who was not selected, said.
When contacted, Colonel Sharma of 20 AR, Mon while conceding that 80 posts were meant for Mon district but digressing from the matter in question, expressed uncertainty how the remaining vacancies would be filled up. Colonel Sharma however, assured that when a new company (TA) placement is launched more candidates would probably be accommodated.
