KSU points out shortage of medical staff in Mon

DIMAPUR, MAY 13 (MExN): The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has submitted a representation to the Principal Director, Health & Family Welfare, drawing attention to shortage of staff in the health sector in Mon, Aboi and Wakching.

The KSU informed that one staff nurse at DH Mon under the establishment of Medical Superintendent Mon has been kept as an attachment at DH Wokha; a Health Assistant, under the establishment of CMO Mon, has been kept under the attachment of CMO Dimapur; and another staff, who was posted at CHC Aboi was transferred at Daklane SC under CMO Kohima without replacement.

The union termed these transfers as blatant misuse of power without providing any reliever, while both the DH Mon and CHC Aboi are facing acute shortage of nurses.

The KSU further pointed out that CHC Aboi is functioning with only one general doctor, besides one each for Ayush and Dental. “It is such disgrace on the part of the department to appoint only one general doctor in a populated place like Aboi,” the union said.

It urged the Principal Director to revoke the attachment and transfer orders of the three aforementioned health personnel and deploy two more general doctors at CHC Aboi at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the union informed that the Primary Health Centre, Wakching Town, which was officially upgraded to a Community Health Centre (CHC) on August 14, 2021 by the concerned minister, does not have the doctor and nurses even after a year since its upgradation.

“The villagers are still facing untold misery due to the inaccessible health facilities in the area, and it should be the priority of the department to deploy adequate manpower at every medical centre,” it added.
