KSUD hosts cultural exchange to promote unity among Tribes

Chümoukedima, April 20 (MExN): The Khiamniungan Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) hosted a vibrant Cultural Exchange Programme on April 19 under the theme “Strengthening Cultural Affinity,” bringing together representatives from seven tribes for a day of cultural celebration and inter-tribal camaraderie. The event was held at Stone Garden, North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Chümoukedima.

Gracing the occasion as the Special Guest was Etsungmomo Kikon, President of the Naga Council Dimapur, who in his address spoke about the role of cultural collaboration in fostering understanding and unity across diverse communities. “It is through such platforms that we build bridges of respect, appreciation, and common purpose,” Kikon stated.

NT Thamlong Phom, President of the Eastern Nagaland People's Union Dimapur, attended as the Guest of Honour. He lauded the initiative of KSUD and stressed the need for continued efforts to safeguard indigenous traditions in an increasingly globalized world.

The event featured traditional music and dance performances, exhibitions of tribal attire, and the sharing of indigenous cuisine. Participants and attendees engaged in cultural storytelling, shared histories, and the importance of heritage preservation.

KSUD stated that the programme aimed to create a space for mutual cultural learning and respect among the different Naga communities. The union expressed gratitude to all participating tribes and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inter-tribal harmony and safeguarding cultural identities.
