KSUK slams alleged physical abuse of minor, demands action

Kohima, May 15 (MExN): The Konyak Students' Union, Kohima (KSUK) has expressed outrage over what it described as a “heinous act” committed by an LDA-cum-Computer Operator of the 10th IR Battalion, Zadima, who allegedly physically abused a 9-year-old minor boy belonging to the community.

Describing it as a serious violation of child rights under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and a breach of the Right to Life under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, the Union strongly condemned the incident in a press statement.

The KSUK stated it was “completely shocked by the inhuman behaviour exhibited by Wapang L Imsong towards a minor, who is at an age when he needs love, protection, and care from parents and guardians.”

“This kind of mentality has no place in a civilised society and must be dealt with strictly under the law of the land without prejudice or partiality,” it asserted, while urging all right-thinking citizens to condemn such inhuman acts and take appropriate steps to rescue and protect vulnerable children.

The KSUK further demanded that the competent authorities initiate the strictest legal action against the accused to ensure that justice is delivered without delay and affirmed that it will not rest “until justice is served.”

Meanwhile, a KSUK official informed that a formal complaint has already been filed with the relevant authorities.
