A six day long KTC Football Referee Clinic 2018 under the aegis of Kohima Town Club (KTC) concluded here today at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground).
Speaking at the valedictory function, Dr. Viketuolie Pienyii, President KTC acknowledged all the participants who have shown great enthusiasm and to the two instructors for their quality instructions.
Pienyü said the KTC will keep on upgrading the skills of referees.
He urged the referees to stay fit by conducting local matches and keep in touch with football while assuring that the KTC would be utilizing them to conduct football matches in the upcoming KFL.
All India Football Federation instructor M. Joy Chandra said " Whistling is an art. If we keep practicing, then only the art will come out.”
The instructor also said fitness is the most important part to become a referee while encouraging the referees to stay fit physically and mentally strong.
Referring to Kivi Sumi, who recently signed with North East United for ISL, he encouraged the young upcoming referees to practice and work hard so that they can become national referees who also at the same time encouraged the older referees to take part in officiating State football tournaments and leagues.
He was assisted by his friend Tarun Kumar, a referee instructor from the All Manipur Football Association during the clinic.
Arentemjem, a veteran footballer and a government servant in the School Education Department from Mokokchung who attended the referee clinic while lauding the organizers and the two instructors said, " We were happy under the guidance of Joy and we learned a lot from him.
Vizovonuo Sano from the State IG Sports Academy said "We will utilize the knowledge and we will go forward.”
Altogether 24 referees (19 males and 5 females) took part in the clinic. All India Football Federation Referee instructor, Joy Chandra and All Manipur Football Association referee instructor Tarun Kumar were the instructors of the clinic.
