DIMAPUR, JULY 25 (MExN): The Kiphire Tuensang Districts Sumi Students Union (KTDSSU) and the Pungro Area College Students Union (PACSU), on behalf of Sitimi Seyochung 59 A/C and Pungro Kiphire 60 A/C have submitted a representation to the Chief Electoral Officer, Kohima asking for linking of Aadhaar with electoral roll exclusively for Kiphire within one month, failing which the organisations would file a PIL.
A letter to the CEO said that in almost all the villages under Kiphire district there is excess of electorate. As examples they cited four villages namely Singrep, Phelonger, Yangzitong and Seyochung, where electoral roll was higher than the total population.
The letter informed that in Singrep village while the population as per 2011 census was 829 and the projected population by 2017 was 913, the final electoral roll was 1110. In Phelonger the projected popularion was 1028 and the electoral roll was 1039. In Yangzitong, the projected population was 1483 and the electoral roll was 1523. And in Seyochung, the projected population was 1601 and the final electoral roll was 2504.
The two bodies further asked that the names of the displaced Yimchungers of Kiphire Town in the electoral roll “should be transferred to their respective polling stations.”
The letter further alleged that “photos of many non- Nagas are pasted under Naga names at Kiphire polling stations. It also lamented that “many genuine voters are not accepted.Staff giving wrong information should be punished, it added.
