Mon, November 5 (MExN): The Konyak Union on Saturday has appealed to the state government to sincerely peruse the demand of the medical doctors and settle it decisively in order to provide continuous health care services.
Referring to the state wide indefinite strike under the aegis of the Nagaland In-Service Doctors Association (NIDA) since October 28 demanding enhancement of superannuation age for all doctors, the KU questioned the government as to whether the government can shoulder the responsibility of any casualty arising out of the NIDA agitation.
In a press release, the KU stated that Mon district, being one of the remotest areas with large population, depends on the lone Government District Hospital. “There are very few alternative health centers for the sick across the district. Many people suffering from various ailments are left unattended due to the prevailing issue,” it stated while underscoring that the district has already been facing an acute shortage of medical doctors in all the health centers.
While it is the responsibility of the government to ensure availability of smooth health care services to the people of the state, the Konyak Union lamented that the state government is not able to address the issue at hand. It further appealed to the state government to sincerely peruse the demand of the NIDA and settle it decisively.
