KU congratulates new Rajya Sabha MP, NPSC Chairperson

Mon, April 3 (MExN): Konyak Union (KU) has congratulated S Phangnon Konyak on being declared unopposed to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Nagaland as Member of Parliament.

The union, in a press release on Sunday, appreciated the concerned political party and its allies for reposing faith and trust on Phangnon and nominating her candidature.

“Being the first ever woman MP from the State to represent the Upper House of the world’s largest democracy; it is indeed a herculean task to fulfill, but with the experiences and forward looking mentality and attitude, it is our utmost hope and aspiration that she will fulfill all the assigned duties and responsibilities with passionate zeal and commitment,” the release stated. 

Her contribution and commitment towards the Konyak community especially towards the uplift of women, encouraging the youngsters with inspiration and being a role model to develop positive change for the society has been overwhelming, it said, while wishing her success.

The union also acknowledged the state government for appointing W Honje Konyak as chairperson of Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC). It hoped that his vast experience and knowledge rendered during his civil service era would be of immense help in shouldering the responsibilities of his new assigned duty. It prayed that the Almighty God would guide and protect him in delivering justice for the welfare of the common men.
