
Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): The Konyak Union (KU) has expressed concern on the collapse of bridge between Namtola (Assam) – Namsa (Nagaland) in Tizit on August 6, the major lifeline connecting Mon district.
In view of the difficulties faced by the people of Mon district for livelihood and transportation, the Union in a press release today appealed the concerned department PWD (R&B) and the government to take early initiative to restore the same. It also asked to make other alternative route for the time being to ensure smooth passage for commuters and that essential commodities and supplies are available to the general public without any inconveniences.
The release added that there are apprehensions in Mon about the possibility of having shortfalls of commodities and supplies in the district, further appealing the government and district authority to ensure that such situation is prevented during the course of action.
In a separate press release, the Konyak Students' Union (KSU) made an appeal for immediate restoration and intervention of Namsa- Namtola bridge. Stating that the general public of Mon are cut off from travelling to Dimapur and Kohima, KSU appealed the state government to undertake immediate spot verification and restore the bridge and also bring an alternate solution without any delay.
