Mon, March 12 (MExN): The Konyak Union (KU) while congratulating the nine Konyak newly elected NLA members today hoped that God’s “continued blessings and wisdom” be bestowed upon them in delivering the public from the “bondage of suffering.”
“Our God is selfless and impartial. Therefore, any greed or cruel partiality if shown, then it only disgrace the very blessings that God had bestowed upon you,” read a statement from KU president, Manlip Konyak and general secretary, Honang M Konyak.
Meanwhile, the KU appealed to judiciously allocate portfolios within the members. “Politics without inculcating traditional values and honour would rather turn the assembly into a renegades bar. Hence, seniority and proportionate distribution should be prioritised and executed for general good. Any deviation from the norms & values of the Naga tradition would simply invite massive blow upon the very Naga institution that was once built on trust & faith,” it maintained.
Further, the union articulated its “utmost contentment” in thanking the Almighty for “his unceasing love and protection towards its people in the recent (Nagaland) General election.” Such “peaceful and calm situation/time won’t have occurred in the land of Christ without God’s divine intervention and love,” the statement said.
KU also applauded the Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjumn (KBBB) for their continued gospel and prayer for clean and fair election campaign.
“To some extent, such noble venture had curbed numerous indulgence of wrong and rather, it had gracefully facilitated culminating the recent General election peacefully,” KU acknowledged. It also appreciated all the Konyak frontal organisations for their active cooperation during the entire process.
“In a democratic setup, election is a game of rivalry and not of an enemy. Hence, a healthy competition is essential in this civilized world. Mutual respect shown towards its respective opponent is highly applauded,” it added.
The Konyak Union also conveyed its warm empathy to all those who lost in the election. As a “fatherly figure”, it appealed to the “unfortunates” to “come forward with an extended mind and to strive jointly for progress and development.”
Felicitation & prayer for Konyak MLAs
The KU further informed that there will be a felicitation and prayer programme for all the Konyak elected members during Konyak Aoleang Monyu 2018. Hence, it appealed to all the elected members, all political parties, all the candidates and all the Konyak frontal organisations to be mentally prepared for the day and also to plan out the schedule accordingly. Such platform is intended with a vision to bring forth a unified Konyak for progress and development, it stated.
