DIMAPUR, JULY 13 (MExN): The Konyak Union (KU) intervened on the conflict of interest arising between NSCN (R) and the Food and Civil Supplies Department (F&CS) over the alleged illegal storage of PDS rice in Mon town. Recognizing the matter as concerning the welfare of the public, the KU in a press statement today said it was compelled to invite both the parties for thorough justification and deliberation on July 11 at Mon Town.
Highlighting the outcome of the meeting, the KU said it acknowledged the stand of the NSCN (R) on its motive behind the act, which was in delivering social justice for the poor.
It also acknowledged the justification statement made by the NSCN (R) on the sanctity of its ceasefire monitoring office. No baseless or defamatory accusation should be leveled against the government in future, the KU cautioned. The KU also established that the rented F&CS storage was official and not illegal as alleged.
Following the findings from both the parties, the KU resolved the following points for general understanding and peaceful co-existence.
It appreciated the good gesture shown by the NSCN (R) for returning the seized commodities back for the public through proper channel. It however appealed to the NSCN (R) to issue its directives/code of conduct to its military and civil official to abstain/refrain from any illegal and immoral activities within Konyak soil.
The KU also appealed to the F&CS department to implement all schemes judiciously to deliver justice to the poor Konyak public.
It has therefore directed both the parties to immediately withdraw all forms of complaints and in reflection to this resolved issue, no afterward incidences should arise in future.
