KU Tizit set ILP-drive

Dimapur, December 21 (MExN): The Konyak Union of Tizit has asked all non-Nagas within the jurisdiction of Tizit to “acquire” Inner Line Permit (ILP) within the month of January, 2009. The union in a note today said ILP checking drives will be undertaken along with the administration and police. Defaulters and persons failing to comply with the notification shall face stern action as per Inner Line Regulations of 1873.   The Konyak Union said Tizit is situated on the borders of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. All non-Nagas enter Mon district through Tizit, the KU lamented. “There are many non-Nagas settling in the area working in the industry, farms, tea gardens, private schools etc” the union observed. However, Tizit’s Konyak Union reminded, the Inner Line regulations of 1873 stipulates that every non-Naga should have an Inner Line Permit to reside in the Naga areas. Giving January 2009 to be the dateline month for all non-Nagas to have an ILP, the union reiterated stern action against defaulters.
