Kuda Village observes 75th anniversary

Morung Express News Dimapur | January 15   Kuda Village today observed its ‘Village Day’ at the village’s panchayat hall to commemorate the 75th anniversary of establishment of the village and also the year-long platinum jubilee celebration.   Addressing Kuda villagers as the speaker on the occasion, former president of Naga Council Dimapur and social worker, Savi Liegise, paid tributes to the pioneers of the village who undertook a lot of hardships and sacrifices during their time for posterity of the village.   Liegise said the village is what it is today due to the past sacrifices and visions of the pioneers and challenged the present generation on what legacy they intent to leave behind for the future generation.   Expounding on the cardinal virtues and qualities for all-round development and harmonious co-existence among the villagers, he also exhorted that “if we are not truthful in our personal dealings with one another, there is no need to take pride in ourselves.”   Liegise also reminded that Kuda village, once upon a time a jungle where tigers and elephants make their habitat, has now developed into a jungle of concrete structures.  

On attaining the 75-year milestone, Liegise encouraged the villagers to remain united for common prosperity and further never to forget the Creator for His manifold blessings to the village.   V Bano Sakhrie, an elderly women leader, also exhorted the gathering. On the occasion, the village council felicitated meritorious students and sportspersons. Earlier, pastor Kuda Village Baptist Church, Rev. Miazeilie Sakhrie, invoked God’s blessings; secretary, Kuda Village Council (KVC), Vikie Nagi read out the secretary’s report and treasurer, KVC, P Lohe Sakhrie, proposed vote of thanks. Outgoing chairman, KVC, Alhoulie Belho, chaired the village day programme.   A new team of KVC for the tenure 2016-2021 was also announced with Achübu Meru as chairman, Vizielie Nagi as vice chairman, Megovikho Khate as secretary, Kelhousesi Rino as joint secretary and Tsiyiezo Senotsu as treasurer.
