That was a time worth our while at Dream Café with the fabulous ‘Action For Life’ team, comprising members from different nations of the world. With the Café’s own Wave Band we were treated with refreshing music as starters. And our attention got to its zenith as the ‘Action For Life’ team got the message through to us, with skits and songs and short sharings, the message being, “Be the Change You Want To See”, this being quoted by none other than that great Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhiji.
We all want change, whether at home, in the family, with friends, at our workplaces, in our towns and villages, our country…the whole world! And we are more often than not disappointed seeing no change. We see no change because we do not realize that change can come about only when we are changed ourselves. We often only want to see others change while the ‘I, Me, Myself’ remains unchanged.
True, as the Coordinator of the team, Mr.Niketou Iralu, rightly pointed out, we (Nagas) love to pray. Praise God, indeed for that! But where are our actions? We often easily say ‘Sorry’, but do we ever care about restituting? Yes, we’ve got to start our ‘actions for change’ right where we are. We’ve got to be the change we want to see keeping in mind what G.K. Chesterton said, “What is wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it and what is right is right even if no one is doing it”.
There are really too many images and masks we hide behind, as the team sang, so that ‘the real you and me’ is hard to find. Like they sang, “We can’t keep pretending for too long…we’ve got to be what we are meant to be”. The team mentioned four moral standards that outlined their quiet time, viz., purity, honesty, unselfishness and love. Listen to your inner voice, folks. It screams in pain for want of those virtues. Change! It must really start with you and me.
“Go, go….Do things you’ve never done before!” Action for life sang making the audience squirm being motivated to change right away. And lest our enthusiasm fades, Dream Café treated us to a sumptuous dinner. Thanks to all those who made this event happen. And thanks to Dream Café for being a platform for dreamers to dream and for dreams to come true.
And to those life changers, who have been changing for good, hats off to you! Remember the “Rain Clap” and know that the world’s a better place because you made a decision to change for good. And to those who wants to see others change, remember to change yourself first…..Be the change you want to see!
