Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): The 28th general session of the Khiamniungan Union Kohima (KUK) was held on May 14 at Bamboo Hall, Kisama at 10:30 am with attendance of about 600 members. T. Khongo, ex-minister exhorted the gathering on self discipline and development for a holistic and progressive society.
KUK general secretary in a press release informed that some of the resolutions adopted during the session were: any person(s) who tarnish the image of Khiamniungan within its jurisdiction shall be dealt with by the Union; it has been resolved that any member(s) of the union entering into same clan marriage shall be excommunicated as it is a taboo according to the Khiamniungan culture; and membership fee of the Union shall be Rupees 10 only. The new team of office bearers elected for 2011-2013 tenure includes: President-P. Tongthan; Vice President- L. Henong; General Secretary-Y. Kongkhao; Finance Secretary-P. Langshe and treasurer-K. Niamba.
