The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has said on Sunday that it will organize a "peaceful" rally for immediate political solution for the Kuki-Zo by fulfilling the demand of separate administration/union territory with legislature on February 18 in all Kuki-Zo inhabited districts of Manipur, and Delhi-NCR.
“The council in its recent meeting held at Lamka decided to organize the peaceful rally to raise our voices to the Central Government to hear us in our demand for a separate administration/union territory with legislature,” said a statement released by Kuki-Zo Council.
The council said it has requested and entrusted the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Indigenous Tribes Advocacy Committee (ITAC), Jiribam, Kuki Inpi Jiribam, Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal, and Hill Tribal Council (HTC) to organize the said peaceful rally in their concerned districts/locations.
It further said the demonstration will be carried out in Churachandpur, Lamka, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, Jiribam, Tengnoupal, Moreh, Chandel, and also in Delhi-NCR.
The proposed rally should be carried out in a silent and peaceful manner, and violent demonstrations, use of abusive words and mentioning of individual names are not encouraged, the council said.
It also urged all to display the Indian Flag during the rally. "We request you to arrange for your respective locations.Please encourage our people to dress decently in the appropriate black attires," said the Kuki-Zo Council.
It also requested all concerned to submit a memorandum copy through the concerned Deputy Commissioners, and for Delhi directly to the Home Minister duly signed by each location organizing team.
The common slogans for placards will be “Start discussing Kuki-Zo issue in Parliament, “Separate administration in the form of UT with legislature,” No solution, no peace,” “No border fencing,” and “Justice/verdict of the Biren audio tapes,” the council added.
