KUM dismayed over clash between Myanmar based NSCN-K groups

Four cadres reportedly killed on Sept 7 firing

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): The Konyak Union Myanmar (KUM) has expressed dismay over the recent clash between the Myanmar based Yung Aung led NSCN-K group and its splinter group led by Major Gen (Retd) Angmai on September 7, which reportedly led to four casualties.

A condemnation note issued by KUM President PM Aman and General Secretary K Akham Honwang alleged that the Yung Aung led cadres (CHQ) attacked on the GHQ designated camp killing three person identified as Phopa from Chen Moho village, Honwang from Momkho village and Nalo Sicshao. One cadre from Yung Aung group identified as Haime of Ponu village was also killed during the gun battle. It further expressed distaste that when the KUM executives led by its president travelled to Lak-ho village, they were threatened by the GHQ cadres.

The KUM, meanwhile, revealed that one cadre from the Ang Mai group identified as Mihlei was released unharmed by the Yung Aung group after their intervention at Nyanching village on September 10.

It lamented that despite repeated appeals from the public, the two groups continue with their violent confrontations, bringing misery to the innocent villagers who are caught in the cross fire.

The KUM has again appealed to both the parties that if they are for the Naga nation, they should listen to the voice of the Naga people. It also urged the Eastern area civil society organizations and tribe leaders to examine the situation in the Eastern area to bring a peaceful atmosphere.

The KUM, meanwhile, expressed condolence to the bereaved family members as they navigate through this difficult time.
