KUM reiterates call for maintaining peace in public place

Dimapur, June 18 (MExN): The Konyak Union Myanmar (KUM) has reiterated its call for the maintenance of peace in public places.

While the public appreciates the General Headquarters (GHQ) and Council Headquarters (CHQ) of the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) for listening to the public's appeals for peace and restraining all forms of "anti-activities within their team’ the union urges continuation of a peaceful atmosphere in public places, stated a press release from KUM President PM Aman and General Secretary K Akham Honwang.

According to the release, although there is a present crisis within the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) that is internal, they (cadres) are "patrolling like other foreign invasions in the Naga area" and creating fear psychosis among the people.

The KUM further reminded that "even the Indian and Myanmar armies cease operations in public places out of pity for public life" and asked why Naga national workers are creating such a scenario for the public.

In this connection, on behalf of the Eastern Konyak people, the KUM once again ‘fervently’ appealed to maintain a peaceful atmosphere within the government and public places. The public will not support any side until there is a resolution for one government, it said.

The union also appealed to all National workers to live in their designated places and not with the public or in the village to avoid tension for innocent lives.

‘They should keep their ammunition as a last option to avoid fighting among the Naga or firing in the village, creating fear psychosis among the public,’ it added.
