Tuensang, February 10 (MExN): Khiamniungan Union Tuensang (KUT) today demanded the present team of Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) to dissolve within February 15 “failing which the KUT will be compelled to take its own course of action in the interest and welfare of the community.” KUT made the demand while accusing the KTC of betraying the Khiamniungans in the whole process of ULB elections "by taking unrealistic and hasty decisions damaging the image of the Khiamniungans.”
KUT held an emergency executive meeting regarding the impasse between the State government and Naga public over the ULB elections on February 10, where it deliberated on the issues and various decisions taken by KTC recently pertaining to ULB polls at Noklak HQ, informed a release from KUT President, M. Neolo and Executive Committee Chairman, NL Tangsoi.
“After serious discussion on the issue, the meeting unanimously resolved to stand by its earlier decision of 10th Jan 2017 which had discarded the proposed ULB election at Noklak Hq in particular and in the state in general,” it added.
KUT in the meeting condemned in-toto the decision taken by KTC to accept the ULB elections at Noklak, the release said. However, it re-affirmed to continue to extend support and stand in solidarity with the rest of the Nagas under the initiative of the NTAC and JCC at all cost.
The union also appealed to the Khiamniungan GBs Union to take over the office of the KTC “right after the dissolution of KTC in order to safeguard the integrity and to maintain the sanctity of the entire Khiamniungan community.”
