Tuensang, November 27 (MExN): The District Level Centre for Women Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) and Tuensang District Administration observed International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on the theme ‘Orange the World’ at Council Hall, Kuthur village on November 25 under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
The main aim and objective of the event was to convey detailed information regarding women’s rights and to practice justice in the society, stated a press release from the MSK.
During the event, Songmao M, the Women Welfare Officer DLCW Tuensang highlighted the core concept of BBBP programme. She laid emphasis on the various forms of violence like domestic violence, sexual harassment and sexual abuse, physical and mental abuse etc., against women in the present scenario of the society and said that the universal women helpline number 181 plays a vital role in all districts in the state of Nagaland. She advised the attendees to make use of the helpline to report any violence against women.
Meanwhile, District Coordinator (MSK) Tuensang S Niamkoi, spoke on the safety measures against the COVID-19 pandemic and highlighted the Dos’ and Don’ts to be put into action to combat the pandemic. The team also gave out sanitary pads and face masks to all the attendees in the program. 30 widows and 40 adolescent girls attended the programme, it said.
