KVK Kiphire organises awareness programme at Tethuyo village

Kiphire, October 17 (MExN): District Agromet Unit (DAMU), KVK, Kiphire organised one-day farmers awareness programme on agro advisory services at Tethuyo village, Kiphire district on October 17.


During the programme, Temjenna Jamir, SMS (Agro Meteorology) gave a brief note to the farmers how the IMD (India Meteorological Department) has come up to provide weather information to farmers by setting up Agro-Met stations (DAMU). She also informed on the weather extremities and how in a small micro region there were difference in the weather parameters and thus its importance were shared to the farmers. They were informed about the importance of registration of their phone numbers for mobile short message services on Agro Advisory services.


The farmers were also apprised on the care and management of livestock during winter season by Benjungtemsu, VFA. The importance of food security and to have surplus produce in the village vicinity was highlighted but Setsiba Sangtam, DAO (AFA).


Further, he urged the farmers to grow drought tolerant crops in order to abate the climate change. 
Altogether 63 farmers attended the programme.
