ICAR KVK Longleng celebrated ICAR KVK Golden Jubilee commemorating 50 years (1974-2024) of dedicated service to agriculture and rural development on July 18.
Longleng, July 18 (MExN): The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longleng celebrated ICAR KVK Golden Jubilee commemorating 50 years (1974-2024) of dedicated service to agriculture and rural development on July 18.
A press release received here stated that the celebration, held at the KVK Longleng campus, was graced by the presence of Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj, IAS; Head of ICAR (RC) NEH Region, Nagaland Centre Dr Homeswar Kalita; Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Longleng Dr Hari Charan Kalita; Senior Scientist & Head KVK Mokokchung Dr Keviletsu Khate. The other present included staff of KVK Longleng Shubhendu Kumar Behera (SMS, Plant Pathology), Dr Kalu Ram (SMS, Fruit Science), Kumari Pallavi (SMS, Home Sciences), Chinglak Phom (Stenographer), Chairman and village leaders and farmers.
The DC Longleng and Dr H Kalita both s emphasised the importance of KVK’s role in empowering farmers, fostering agricultural research, and contributing to the overall development of the region. Dr Hari Charan Kalita presented the journey of KVK Longleng since 2011 to 2024 and outlined his vision for future developmental plans of KVK Longleng.
In a significant moment of the celebration, Dr Kalita officially passed the torch to KVK Mokokchung. This symbolic gesture represents a new chapter in the ICAR KVKs network. The passing of the torch was marked by an inspiring ceremony where KVK Longleng’s achievements were handed over to KVK Mokokchung, reinforcing a commitment to continued excellence and progress in agricultural innovation.
