KVK Longleng holds Scientific Committee meet
Longleng, February 11 (MExN): The 7th Scientific Committee meeting was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longleng, Nagaland on February 11 at Deputy Commissioner Conference hall, Longleng. The meeting was chaired by Dr BK Kandpal, Director ICAR RC NEH Region Umiam, Meghalaya.
Dr KL Meena, Sr Scientist & Head, KVK Longleng delivered the welcome speech. The progress report of KVK Longleng for the year 2019-2020 was presented by Dr Lily Ngullie, SMS (A/S) and the action taken report for the year 2019-20 and action plan for the year 2020-2021 was presented by Dr KL Meena, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Longleng.
Dr Kandpal urged all Line departments of the district to coordinate with the KVK of the district for the welfare of the farmers. He encouraged the line department and the KVK to identify the specific problem of the farmers and carry out the technology that is beneficial to the farmers.
The Director also emphasized about locally available resources and to utilize it for better production, specially for feeding of pigs and poultry and the locally available crop such as colocasia, tapioca and tuber crops should be adopted.
He urged the staff to take up terrace cultivation for vegetable crop in the district. Department from Forest, ATMA, Horticulture, Rural Development (BDO), Land resource, Vetinary and NSRLM participated. Altogether 20 progressive farmers from different villages attended the meeting.
