KVK-NU, Zunheboto conducts input distribution programme

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 19 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaland University, Zunheboto on August 18 conducted input distribution programme at Beisumpuikam village under Peren district. The programme was sponsored by ICAR, New Delhi. 

Giving the introductory speech, Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK Zunheboto provided insight on the program, the need for inputs and participation by all the stakeholders so that the program becomes successful. 

Alempenzu, Technical Officer, NIELIT, Dimapur, gave a lecture on use of ICT in Agriculture while D Siugam spoke on behalf of the farmers and thanked the KVK for providing the inputs. 

The distribution of inputs to the farmers was made by guest of honor Daniel Meren, Additional Director/Scientist E, NIELIT, Dimapur. Altogether 5000 numbers of areca nut saplings and 2000 numbers of Rainbow Rooster poultry chicks were distributed on the occasion. 

In his address, guest of honour Meren asked the farming communities to join hands together to improve their socio-economic condition by adopting new technologies provided by KVKs. He stressed upon inclusion of scientific technologies and use of ICT tools for crop and livestock production. 

He suggested that the farmers can make it an areca nut village if each and every household in the village comes up to adopt the technology. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Tadibe Zeliang, Village Council Chairman.
