 
                          
                  
Zunheboto/Mon, July 19 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Mon and Zunheboto organised trainings in villages in their respective jurisdictions.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mon, Aboi organized farmers’ training on ‘Management of Gundhi Bug’ at Langmeing village on July 19 with Martha Chakruno, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection) as the resource person.
A press release from Programme Coordinator, KVK Mon stated that Gundhi bug is a serious pest of rice under upland and lowland condition in Mon district during the milky stage which results in chaffy grains.
The resource person deliberated on the use of improvised plastic funnel with rotten crab inside the trap for management of Gundhi bug. She also dwelt on rodent management. Altogether, 35 farmers attended the training. They were all given improvised plastic funnel crab trap and roban.
Meanwhile, Department of KVK, Zunheboto, Nagaland University conducted one day training on weed management and preparation of tomato pickle for participants from Atoizu and Aotsakilimi village on July 17.
Dr. Visakho Shunyu (Subject Matter Specialist, Genetics and Plant Breeding) and Narola Anichari, Programme Assistant (Home Science) were the resource persons.
Narola Anichari shared with the farmers how to prepare and preserve tomato pickle. The idea of imparting the training was to make the farmers aware of the utility of tomato not only for daily consumption but also to preserve it in the form of pickle, stated a press release from Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK, Zunheboto, NU.
