KVK Peren celebrates Kisan Diwas with farmers

Peren, December 28 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Peren celebrated Kisan Diwas (National Farmers Day) on December 23 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the 5th Prime Minister of India.

The programme was held at Concillor Hall, Veterinary Colony, Jalukie Town, in the presence of 132 farmers of Peren district. The same programme was telecast by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, chaired by Dr Prashant Kalal, SMS-Fruit Science, KVK Peren.

Dr K L Meena, Principal Scientist & Head, KVK Peren, explained the history & significance of the Kisan Diwas celebration. He shared the salient features of the Viksit Bharat G RAM G scheme, under which 125 days of guaranteed wage employment is available for unskilled labour with timely wage payment, while advising the farmers to take advantage of schemes for improved farming.

Dr Kalal gave a lecture on “Sustainable Farming Approaches” for increasing the farmers' income. He suggested farmers to adopt good agricultural practices, technology-based farming with animal husbandry, usage of biofertilizers and biopesticides in crop cultivation for chemical-free crop production.

Iruga Zeliang, Council Member, Jalukie Town advised the farmers to adopt the various agricultural schemes for enhancing their income & livelihood status, while applauding the efforts of KVK Peren for the Krishi Choupal programme.

Farmers celebrated the Kisan Day by cutting the cake with new ambitions of achieving the dream of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Farmers interacted with the KVK scientists about various government schemes and other challenges in farming. Thereafter, vegetable seeds were distributed to all the farmers.
