Animal health camp conducted during the awareness programme conducted by KVK Peren, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie, on February 9.

Peren, February 12 (MExN): A one day awareness programme on important diseases of livestock and poultry cum animal health camp was conducted by KVK Peren, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie, on February 9 at council hall, New Peren Village. The programme was sponsored under TSP, stated a press release issued by KVK Peren.
Dr L Babita Devi, CTO (Animal Science) & PI of the project chaired the programme and gave the keynote address and briefed about the importance of awareness among the farmers about animal health. Dr KL Meena, PS & Head, KVK Peren, gave the welcome address.
Kevethito Rose, EAC, Peren, graced the function as special guest and appreciated KVK Peren for organizing such a needful programme. He also encouraged the participants to avail the opportunities given by various departments and stakeholders for the welfare of their livestock’s. He suggested the livestock rearers to seek for prevention and treatment of ailing animals. He also encouraged the villagers to go for large scale livestock rearing for commercial basis and sustainability.
Lily Lotha, Director, SBI-RSETI, Peren, as guest of honour of the programme highlighted in details about SBI-RSETI and also encouraged the participants to avail the facilities provided in terms of training in piggery and poultry.

During the technical session, Dr Tukheswar Chutia, Keneisezo Kuotsu of CVSc, CAU, Jalukie and Suiyipeube Mpom, Farm Manager, Pig Breeding Centre, Jalukie and L Babita Devi delivered lecture on the topics “Important diseases of Pig and their management”, “Bio security management in Livestock farming”, “Important diseases of Cattle and their management” and “Important diseases of Poultry and their management” respectively. As a part of the programme, Farmer Scientist interaction was also done, followed by Animal Health camp.
Altogether 58 participants (41 farmers and 17 officials) attended the programme. During the Animal health camp, Mineral mixtures, deworming drugs, antibiotics and other veterinary medicines were distributed to the farmers covering a total of 499 livestocks including poultry (57 pigs, 375 poultry, 43 buffalo, 22 cows and 2 dogs), stated a press release issued by KVK Peren.
