Phek, March 14 (MExN): Awareness programme on nutri crops and medicinal plants under KSHAMTA was conducted by KVK Phek on March 14. Dr T Esther Longkumer CTO (Soil Science) highlighted on KSHAMTA and spoke on the importance of medicinal plants. She enlightened on the locally available medicinal plants found in the district.
Dr Hannah K Asangla, CTO (Agronomy) presented the prospects of nutri crops where she elaborated on the importance on foxtail millet cultivation. Keniseto Chucha, spoke on the significance of nutritional garden and encouraged the farmers to maintain kitchen garden for home consumption to meet the dietary requirements. Indigenous technical knowledge in agriculture was briefed by Veralu Hesuh, YP II. She explained various ITKs suitable for the farming community of the district.
Farmer representatives from Lanye, Phek, Chepoketa and Middle Khomi shared on their farming experiences. The programme was followed by an interactive session and input distribution. Altogether 100 participants took part in the programme.
