KVK Phek, ICAR-NRC on Mithun conducted the XIXth Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) Meeting on February 5.
Phek, February 5 (MExN): KVK Phek, ICAR-NRC on Mithun conducted the XIXth Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting at KVK Phek, Porba on February 5. Dr Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist and Head KVK Phek delivered the welcome address.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Girish Patil S, Director ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema and Chairman SAC. In his introductory remark, Dr Girish Patil elaborated objectives and role of KVK. He highlighted to take up climate resilient programmes and to converge with the line departments.
Dr AK Mohanty, Director, ICAR-ATARI Zone VII, Umiam attended virtually and suggested to take up technology in research mode and to execute documentation and validation. Dr H Kalita, Head, ICAR RC, Medziphema, spoke on the importance of livelihood, nutritional, environment, economic security and sustainability. Dr N Haque, Principal Scientist stressed on the importance of crop rotation with legumes to maintain soil fertility status.
Dr T Esther, CTO-Soil Sc presented the annual report of 2023. The annual action plan for the year 2024 was presented by Dr Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist and Head. During the interactive session, various recommendations were made by the members of SAC for link research development for the benefit of our farming community.
The meeting was attended by DDK Kohima, Bank officials, District officials from agri and allied department, progressive farmers, representative from NGOs, and staff of KVK Phek. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Hannah K Asangla, CTO-Agronomy.
