
Tuensang, June 14 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tuensang conducted trainings under soil conservation division on soil and water conservation technologies and maintaining soil fertility through crop rotations at Naveen Conference Hall, Tuensang on June 14 which was attended by 33 women who are actively involved in farming from Khiamniungan, Sangtam and DEF churches.
Imtilemla, SMS (Soil Conservation) elaborated on how soil gets eroded on hilly terrains by water, its impact on soil fertility and simple methods/ways the farmers can adopt to retain soil and water in the field. She also explained about crop rotations which properly followed can make them self-reliant & sustainable, how to follow rotations of different crops of different families, benefits of crop rotations. Sarendi Walling, SMS (Animal Husbandry) also trained the participants on the basic know-how of scientific poultry rearing and management.
Earlier, on June 10, trainings on Integrated Nutrient Management in Paddy and Azolla in Terrace Rice Cultivation were conducted by the KVK at Tuensang village, which was attended by paddy farmers from L- and K- khels.
