
Wokha, March 31 (DIPR): Training cum demonstration and management of potential fruit crops was held at LBES Mission Centre, Vankhosung on March 30 and 31. The training was a part of the five days programme organised by KVK, Wokha, with Subject Matter Specialist from KVK Mhalo and Megokhono as resource persons.
The resource persons spoke on raising and maintenance of fruits orchards, nursery plantations, nurture and maintenance through proper use of tools, manure treatment, spacing between saplings plantation, management, labour cost, etc.
They also spoke on farming fruit crops as source of nutritional food, economic income and sustenance, identification of feasible areas, climate and environment for profitable harvest, consumer relations, availability of stockists for produced goods, transportation and market avenues to sell their produce etc. The participants were enlightened on the harmful effects caused by unsupervised use of chemicals such as pesticides, insecticides and other agro related chemicals.
Practical training was also imparted on flower maintenance, soap making and mushroom cultivation in the programme. Free vegetables and mushroom seeds were also distributed in the programme.
