
Chairman of the Kohima Village Council (KVC), Vilhouzhalie Dzüvichü officially launching the Environmental Awareness Campaign.
Dimapur, May 28 (MExN): The Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) in a bid to keep Kohima village Clean has started an Environmental Awareness Campaign, which will be dealt with in three different phases.
Prior to the commencing of the different phases, a programme was held on May 26, at Kohima Village Council Hall, whereby the kicking-off of the Environmental Awareness Campaign was officially launched by the chairman of the Kohima Village Council (KVC), Vilhouzhalie Dzüvichü, in the presence of the leaders of various organizations in Kohima village, stated a press note issued by President Kevisevolie Kevin and general secretary Petekhrietuo Khezhie.
The note stated that in his addressed to the gathering, the chairman, KVC, urged the citizens of Kohima Village to maintain a sensible living standard in all forms setting a living example to the other sections of the people. He cited that, the students’ bodies are suited best in organizing and initiating this sort of environmental campaigns and for that, persuade everyone to cooperate and coordinate with the Union in their endeavours.
Ruokuosazo Sachü, the treasurer of the Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO), also spoke on the occasion pledging the support of the KVYO towards KVSU’s cause. He mentioned that, all the Cleanliness Drives initiated dated back in earlier times were also done by the students’ bodies, though in different activities (banning of rearing livestock’s on the streets, whitewashing of side-roads etc) and the good point was that all the said drives are highly successful and thus, even at this point of time the union will succeed, it added.
The note also mentioned that the project report was presented by Neilhouvolie Mechülho, president (2008-10), KVSU, under whose leadership and initiative the environmental awareness campaign in the form of installing public waste bins in various public places, was undertook. He highlighted the purposes and the intentions of the initiative and the amount of workload they have exerted in this scheme of things.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Kevisevolie Kevin, president, KVSU, invocation prayer by Keneisede-Ü Yiese, president, Kewhimiapfü Mechü Krotho (KMK), and the vote of thanks was proposed by Petekhrietuo Khezhie, general secretary, KVSU. Meanwhile, the KVSU informed that, the 1st Phase of the campaign will commence shortly, where all the institutions both government and private will be covered accordingly, for which intimations will be served to all the visiting institutions along with the
detail information.
