While appreciating the department’s effort in improving the roads in and around Kohima, the Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) expressed its dissatisfaction over the slow pace in the construction of 4-lane Bridge over Sanuorü and warned to resort to its own course of action if the department always keeps on testing the patience of the public.

The KYVO informed the media persons that the work order which was issued on 14th July 2016 with 18 months time for completion of the bridge could not materialize for which A.G. has remarked for cancellation of work order after the audit.

It informed that the 2018 unprecedented downpour that damages a multitude of roads due to sinking and landslide consequently leading to road blockage, causing misery and hardship to the people of Kohima and beyond, compelled the KVYO to write a representation on 13th August 2018 to the Chief Minister for immediate repair of roads and execution of work for Sanuorü bridge.

A couple of months past and the fallen Sanuorü bridge is still in dormant state for which an ultimatum was served to the department on 16th October 2018, KYVO stated.

It stated that the work commenced on 29th October 2018 with a commitment to complete a 2 lane bridge before this monsoon.

“But the execution of work which is hardly visible even after almost 3 years from the issue of work order and again put to rest for the onset of the monsoon is just unacceptable,” KVYO stated.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the slow pace and “silly excuses,” the KVYO warns to take its own course of action and “for which the department shall be solely responsible for any untoward incident.”
