Kohima, July 14 (MExN): The Kohima village Youth Organisation (KVYO) has expressed deep concern with the recent case of some butchers fooling the public by butchering age old and worn out horses and ponies and selling as beef. The organisation urged the KMC to take prompt remedial measure at the earliest.
KVYO, President, Medozhatuo Rutsa and General Secretary, Kezhalelie Keretsü in a press release said that the Organisation has issued directives to curb any illegal activity and requested the KMC to look into these matters.
The Organisation directs that the misconduct of the butchers of selling different meat portions at different rates should be halted until the KMC fixes a prescribe rate and all butcher outlet should use digital weighing machine.
“The same KMC prescribed rate on local and supply pork should be followed, in order to avoid fraud and complications and KMC should not issue trade licence to any individual without a recommendation from the butcher’s Union,” the press release added.
It also directed that random locations of butchers outlet, cleanliness and hygienic on all retail outlets, wholesale outlets and dressed meat outlets should be monitored strictly.
“If any butcher is found violating any of the directives, the KVYO would take its own course of actions against the culprit,” cautioned the Organisation.
The KVYO while appreciating the efforts of ANTA for providing service to the citizen of Kohima, “offer suggestions to curb the current traffic congestion, better taxi service as well as passengers safety.”
Through the ANTA Fact Finding Committee report submitted to the office, the KVYO said, they have the “list and names of more than 300 ‘Local’ taxi permits held by non-Nagas, many through illegal process.”
Therefore, the office requests the DC/RTO to transfer those illegal permits to the local residents.
The office request ANTA to inform all the (NL 01-T, Local and Zonal) cab owners to update and submit their documents within a month of this press release. “This is to clearly ascertain the ratio of taxis and parking allotments in Kohima town,” KVYO added while requesting ANTA to direct all the taxis owners to write their vehicle registration number and ANTA helpline inside their vehicles. KVYO also request the ANTA to fix the penalty rates and make it uniform to all the defaulters.
KVYO also request the ANTA to open taxi booth at Razhü point and Dzüyiekese (TCP Gate) till 11:00 PM daily for night service to aid the public with better taxi service, “even if it will need a raise on the rate or fare for night service.” The KVYO also resolved that since many incidents are reported where either there are no taxi service available or the drivers refusing service on the ground of been late/distance etc.
Meanwhile, KVYO extended support to ACAUT and commended for busting the fuel rackets in the state. The office urge the DC and KMC to look into the cases of the two alleged petrol stations in Kohima and cancel their permits if found involved.
