• To strictly monitor all polling booths
• No entry for outsiders into restricted zones
• To raid and check sale of alcohol
Kohima, February 25 (MExN): In view of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly election, the Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) has reiterated its earlier resolutions to ensure smooth conduct of free and fair election.
KVYO president, Medozhatuo Rutsa and general secretary, Ruokuoneitso Kire in a press release stated that the organisation will strictly monitor all the polling booths in its traditional jurisdiction under the following assembly constituencies – 10th Northern Angami-1, 9th Kohima Town and part of 8th Western Angami and 14th Southern Angami-1.
With the exception of those permitted by the ECI and local recognized bodies, it reminded, no outsiders other than the registered electorate of the particular polling booth shall be allowed entry into the restricted zones on the polling day.
KVYO cautioned all residents not to entertain or host “outside elements” during the election period in their private premises. The organisation also urged the colony panchayats, especially the youth bodies, to help it and the law enforcement agency in ensuring that free and fair election takes place.
“Any person or group caught involved in acts detrimental against KVYO standing resolution shall be severely and promptly dealt with,” the release added.
KVYO also informed that it will raid and check all booze joints, bars, hotels and shops selling and serving alcohol till elections are over.
“KVYO considers alcohol a personal choice irrespective of its prohibition in the state. However, public are requested to understand the action which will complement people's desire for a peaceful atmosphere before and during the polls,” it added.
