Kohima, July 2 (MExN): The Kezieke Welfare Board (KWB) has condemned the “callous attitude” of the army in the motor vehicle accident case which occurred on June 24 at Ghaspani, Highland colony area.
In a press release issued by its Vice Chairman, Mezhulhouvilie Kiewhuo, KWB recounted that on that fateful day around 2:30 pm, an army truck which was part of a military convoy proceeding towards Dimapur on NH 29 hit a Maruti Alto car with four occupants - two students, their mother and aunt, causing it to plunge nearly 60 feet below the road.
“Without even bothering for a stopover or offer of aid, the army convoy comprising not less than a dozen vehicles just moved on mindless of the fate of the occupants,” KWB alleged.
The Board informed that vendors on the highway and a police vehicle which was coming behind the car witnessed the accident and immediately offered helped in rescuing the victims besides giving a telephonic First Information Report.
“We condemn the army involved in the accident... We demand that justice be delivered to our members who have become victims in this case,” KWB asserted.
