KYI partners with NEICORD in Wokha

Wokha: A Wokha-based advocacy organization Kyong Youth Initiative (KYI) has partnered with NEICORD (North East Committee on Relief and Development) in Wokha district to implement the project on “Improving access to information and delivery of public service scheme in remote and backward districts of North East India” for the years 2014 to 2017.

In a meeting held on April 5 at Hornbill Hotel here, the members deliberated at length about the project. Introducing the project, Yiben R.Humtsoe, Convenor of KYI handed over the document recording its partnership as a core CSO/NGO to Limaakum jamir, District coordinator (PSP), NEICORD in the presence of KYI members.

Acknowledging the cooperation received from the Central Executive Committee of KYI, the District Coordinator (PSP) asked the members to join hands and make the project a reality, stated a press release issued by Media Cell, KYI. During the meeting, enumerators for the project were inducted from amongst the KYI members present.

The project aims to bring about improvement in people’s access to transparent and quality information on central sponsored schemes specially focusing on women and marginalized households. It is to be implemented in seven districts of five identified North East States of India focusing on ten identified key schemes covering various sectors such as health, education, livelihood and food security, women and child development, rural development, agriculture, etc.

In Nagaland, Wokha is the district selected for the project. ACTED along with four partners, namely NEICORD, Public Affairs Center, North East Development Foundation and Nanda Talukdar Foundation will implement the project, while the funding for the project implementation is from the European Union.
