Kohima, May 20 (MExN): Major landslides have occurred at Peducha under Kiruphema village jurisdiction due to the incessant rainfall and the “mindless dumping of soil at unstable areas” by the four lane construction company (Gayatri) while undertaking earth cutting between Dimapur and Kohima.
Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO) in a press release stated that the movement of the vehicles has been adversely affected causing untold miseries to the travelers. The light vehicles have been diverted from Peducha to Kiruphema (Basa/Bawe) to Shalom Bible seminary to Secü Zubza which is the only alternative road and is very narrow and in deplorable condition.
The KYO appeals to the state Government to make necessary repairing work and widen the narrow portions of this “by-pass” road, for which the KYO shall handle and supervise the work for public and road safety.
It informed that in case the Government fails to take necessary action at an early date, the condition of the road can no longer bear the heavy traffic and may pose a grave danger for vehicle safety in the hilly terrain, and the KYO may blocked vehicles to ply on this “by-pass” route and make repairing work at their own available resources.
KYO president Kezevilie Hojha; general secretary Mhasisieto Zhünyü with Neicasato Visienyü, Advisor and Makolie Shosahie, Action Secretary in the press release cautioned the four lane construction company not to dump soil in Kiruphema jurisdiction (from River Noumvürü near Bamboo Hotel, and River Dierü near Essar petrol pump) without consulting the KYO and appeals the four lane construction company to assess the loss caused by the work under Kiruphema jurisdiction both below and above the road and compensate the affected properties at the earliest, moreover to execute the construction work with safety and preventative measures.
Meanwhile, KYO assures all possible help to the authorities and requests both the public and VIPs to co-operate in easing the traffic problems. Helpline for travelers affected by landslides under Kiruphema jurisdiction are 8730953383, 8974343540, 9862667194 & 8730877857.
