The annual get together of Lamhai Dungki Youth Organization (LDYO) was held on the outskirts of the village on Saturday, which was attended by around 400 youths from Lamhai Dungki village and invitees.

Masangum Heikha, PS to DAN chairman and Advisor Finance, Government of Nagaland, the special guest who also sponsored the annual get together, in his address exhorted the youth to make best use of the talents that the Almighty God has gifted to each individual. “People who run away from or do not utilize the talent gifted by God will never get blessings from God,” he said.

Masangum also said every individual, especially the youth, should learn to stand on their own feet and not depend on others for their daily needs. Citing the case of Mizo society where the youth have shown the way how to live independent lives and dignity of labour through taking up all professions including menial jobs, he said it is high time that Naga youth should also imbibe such work culture.

“Until and unless you learn to stand on your own feet and continue to be dependent on other, you are like a parasite,” he said.

Noting the strong attendance of the village youth at the annual get together, Masangum encouraged the youth to always maintain unity and bondship as without unity, a village, society or nation can never prosper or march ahead.

Further, Masangum termed ‘jealousy’ as the bane of Naga society and said jealousy is an ailment which cannot be cured by any medicine but can be only be removed from the mind. He said Naga people should also learn how to appreciate each other rather than remain always critical of other’s achievements or works. Only through adopting a positive mindset can Naga people hope for a better future, he added.

Former and present office bearers of LDYO, Village Council members and others also exhorted the gathering.

Popular local singer Namkamlak (also called as the Don Williams of Peren district) and Iheigom and friend entertained the gathering with special numbers.
