
Dimapur, June 29 (MExN): The construction of the Chubi Bridge in Wokha district may finally be back on track. Concerned over the delayed construction, a public meeting with NEEPCO officials was held on June 23 at Doyang Hydro Electric Project, stated a release by the Chairman of Pangti Village Council, E Nmerio Shitiri.
At the meeting NEEPCO officials were queried on the delay of the construction of the Chubi Bridge, to which NEEPCO officials responded saying that the construction works could not be started “due to interference of land owners”, the press note stated.
At the meeting, the Pangti Village Council and the Chubi Bridge Construction Committee (CBCC) expressed appreciation over the “assurance made by Y Ekimo Kikon on behalf of the clan” to abide by the village resolution, Chairman PVC stated.
The PVC and the CBCC also requested the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police Wokha to provide adequate security whenever required, further also demanding NEEPCO to continue with the construction “without any hesitation”. The Chairman PVC at the meeting assured the house to abide by the village resolution “for the successful completion of the bridge”.
The June 23 public meeting at DHEP was chaired by the DC Wokha, Y M Humtsoe.
Meanwhile the PVC and CBCC have expressed gratitude to chief minister Neiphiu Rio for his keen initiation and “concern shown to the displaced villagers of Sungro Range by deputing his emissary with a good will message to complete the bridge”, the press note stated. Further it also expressed gratitude to the DC and SP Wokha establishing the facts pertaining to the delayed construction of the bridge.
